Timothy (TY) Griesenbeck’s story

I am running my campaign in honour of my friend Ty, who was diagnosed just over a year ago with AML or Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Initially when I accepted the challenge and asked Ty if I could run in honour of him, he not only approved my request but also joined my team!  That’s Ty, forever giving of himself and his time even when he’s fighting and in need.

The mission is to cure blood cancer and improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

Presenter: Alana Calhoun, MS, NIC, BEI Advanced., is a nationally and state certified sign language interpreter, former interpreting professor for college students and dancer, former interpreting agency Director, originally from NY and dancing since two years old. She has danced in NY, Washington D.C., and more recently with the Kirova Ballet Company in Miami Florida, and with the San Antonio Metropolitan Ballet and Alamo Arts ballet Theatre in San Antonio TX. 3:00pm: Tarana, a North Indian Kathak Dance. Tarana is a type of composition in Hindustani classical vocal music based on Persian and Arabic phonemes at medium and fast pace. There is no story or message, just pure dance and technique.

Presenter: Maitri Acharya, MBA. Works full time at Biotech Business Strategy while maintaining her dance career with equal passion and dedication. Dance repertoire includes Indian Classical Dance, Ballet, Jazz, Flamenco, African, and Latin Dance. She has performed locally and nationally at notable venues and is completing her Kathak Degree in North Carolina at the AAKRITI Kathak Academy.


4:00pm: Someone to Watch Over Me, Piano and Trumpet. George Gershwin's famous composition performed as a duet with piano and trumpet.

She has performed all over the world with many international artists.

Trumpet: Steve Leisring, Professor of Trumpet at the University of Kansas. 14 years as an orchestral musician in Spain. Currently performing and teaching across Europe, Asia and the US. More than 30 recordings and recent soloist performances in the last three years at the Kennedy Center, Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, major Jazz festivals in Italy and France, classical soloist with professional orchestras in China and Spain.

Presenter: Dr. Genevieve Obregon, PT, DPT., Pediatric Physical Therapist, Independent Contractor, SATX. Clinical Doctorate of Physical Therapy University of Texas Medical Branch. Teaches Flamenco Dance at Raices De Arte Espanol www.saflamenco.com and at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center in SATX. Genevieve is a dancer, instructor and choreographer and has studied Folklorico and Flamenco since childhood. She has studied in Madrid and Sevilla and has danced with the Austin Flamenco Company, Arte y Pasion, and Flamenco Colectivo.

Presenter: Sarmad Haddad, studied Direction of Theater at the Academy of Fine Arts, Theater Studies at the Institute of Fine Arts and is a freelance guitar instructor and performer. His repertoire includes original arrangements, covers and requests. He has recorded sound track music for documentaries, daily TV shows, political campaigns, performed solo and in groups for a variety of venues both private and public including restaurants, festivals, conferences, concerts, the British Embassy, US Embassy, French Cultural Center and the San Antonio Mayor's Ball.
